Yep. Spring Break 2019 is only five weeks away! In an effort to make your life easier, I have compiled a list of camps offering sessions the week of March 18-22, 2019. While the list is not exhaustive, it provides quite a variety of options. I have focused in particular on including camps in different areas in or near Austin, with a variety of price points, and on full-day camps as much as possible, in addition to providing some options for little ones.

Please note, the following is provided for informational purposes only; the information is accurate and true to the best of my knowledge, but there may be omissions, errors or mistakes, and no guarantees are made.

North

All-Star Sports Camp

Details: All-Star Sports Camp gives campers the opportunity to learn teamwork and sportsmanship through a variety of fun, team-based games and activities. Camp activities include soccer, kickball, basketball, flag-football, capture the flag, arts and crafts, ultimate frisbee, dodgeball, bounce house, volleyball, wiffle ball, obstacle course, splash day, and more! Activities vary slightly between locations. Camper ages: 5-14.

Location: SoccerZone Lakeline, 920 Old Mill Rd., Cedar Park, Texas 78613; also South location on Manchaca (see South section below)

Available dates and hours: March 18-22, 2019, M-F 8:30am-4:30pm (late pickup and early drop-off available for $5/day). Half day programs are also available.

Cost: $79/day or $289/week for full days, lunch included for full-day campers. Half day programs are $189/week.

Camp Doublecreek Spring Break Camp

Details: Camp Doublecreek features horseback riding, all kinds of sports, miniature golf, baby animals, arts and crafts, archery, tennis, tumbling, a playscape, and many other games and activities. Camper ages: 4-14.

Location: 800 Doublecreek Drive, Round Rock, TX 78664  (all campers arrive and depart from the campus by bus; camp transportation is available free of charge from 12 locations around Austin)

Available dates and hours: March 18-22, 2019, M-F, 7:30am-5:30pm

Cost: $305/week

Fantastic Magic Camp

Details: Teaching life skills and confidence through magic, juggling, and puppets to kids ages 5-12 since 1993. Campers are grouped by age and experience.

Location: 7500 Woodrow Ave, Austin, TX 78757

Available dates and hours: March 18-22, 2019, M-F 9am-4pm (extended day rehearsal time available from 4-6pm for an additional fee)

Cost: $295

Jump! Gymnastics Spring Break Camp

Details: Beach week – Gymnastics, yoga, art, science, and games! Camper Ages: 3 (must be potty trained) through 12.

Location: 2117 W Anderson Ln., Austin, TX 78757

Available dates and hours: March 18-22, 2019, M-F, 9am-3pm (extended day option available from 3-6pm for $100/week; early drop off at 8am available for $50/week)

Cost: $280/week (9-3); $380/week including extended day (9-6). 8am drop off $50/week. Full day, with sibling discount: $252. $60 Lifetime Membership Fee required if you are not already a member of Jump!

kidsActing Spring Break Camp

Details: 

  • Research Blvd: kidsActing - Triple Threat: Wizard of Oz. Sing, dance, act, play theatre games, enjoy face painting, and have a blast with crafts and the performing arts! All students will have lines, sing, & dance! Perform in a fabulous show for family and friends complete with lights, music, costumes, and props at the end of the week! Ages 5-12. Location: Dancer's Workshop, 11150 Research Blvd., Austin, TX 78759.

  • Round Rock: kidsActing - Triple Threat: Trolls. Sing, dance, act, play theatre games, enjoy face painting, and have a blast with crafts and the performing arts! All students will have lines, sing, & dance! Perform in a fabulous show for family and friends complete with lights, music, costumes, and props at the end of the week! Ages 5-12. Location: The Dance Spot, 900 Round Rock Ave., Round Rock, TX 78681

  • Cedar Park: kidsActing - Triple Threat: Tangled. Sing, dance, act, play theatre games, enjoy face painting, and have a blast with crafts and the performing arts! All students will have lines, sing, & dance! Perform in a fabulous show for family and friends complete with lights, music, costumes, and props at the end of the week! Ages 5-12. Location: Live Oak Unitarian, 3315 El Salido Pkwy., Cedar Park, TX 78613.

Mad Science Spring Break Camp, Wings & Things

Details: Mad Science camps are designed for exciting, fun, hands-on science activities. Your child will become a junior scientist for the week, having the opportunity to experience a variety of science adventures. Spring break daily camp themes include The Milky Way; The “Wright” Stuff; Newton’s Loco-Motion; 3, 2, 1 Blast Off; and Up, Up, and Away. Camper ages: 6-12.

Location: Hope Presbyterian Church, 11512 Olson Drive, Austin, TX 78750 (Near Hwy 183/Anderson Mill Road intersection)

Available dates and hours: March 18-22, 2019, M-F 9am-4:00pm (drop off your child as early as 8:00am for no additional charge, and arrange late pick up as late as 6:00pm. Late pick up option costs an additional $75 per week per child.)

Cost: $290 (discounts available for siblings)

The Scholar Ship Spring Break Camp

Details: 4th annual Spring Break Crystal Making camp for kids ages 7-12. Kids make a different kind of crystal every day; crystal paintings and sculptures; break geodes; and take their whole collection home at the end of the week.

Location: 6001 W. Parmer Lane, #390 Austin, Texas 78727 

Available dates and hours: March 18-22, 2019, M-F 8:30am-5:30pm (Early drop off/late pickup ($7/day), and lunch ($5/day) options available)

Cost: $250. Price includes lab materials, snacks, and drinks.

Zach Theatre Spring Break Camps, Zach North Campus

Details:

  • Grades K-2: Moana. This class is an active and fun introduction to the world of Broadway musicals. Students act, sing, and dance while learning famous material from Moana. 

  • Grades 3-5: Acting and Improvisation. This class is the foundation of ZACH’s training program and is a prerequisite for the Advanced Acting and Acting for the Camera Classes. Students learn the basic tools and vocabulary of the actor as they pursue objectives, overcome obstacles, and utilize tactics while creating in-depth characters. Based on the progress of each class, students will then apply this vocabulary and technique to scene work and text.

Central 

Austin Nature & Science Center (ANSC) Spring Break Camp 

Details: 

  • Ages 5-6: Take a step back from school by taking a step into the nature preserve and see animals out in nature. Let the animal ambassadors teach you about the difference between mammals, reptiles, and birds. Find out how resident animals are cared for with a behind the scenes tour. Take a field trip to a local cave and learn about the animals that rely on such a specific environment.  

  • Ages 7-8: Learn about how animals communicate in this wild camp. How well do you know wildlife? Test your knowledge by playing animal sound bingo. Be a nature sleuth when the group sets up a scent trap and see what the game cam catches at night. Challenge your own communication skills with teambuilding activities. Field trip to Pease Park to look for fossilized animal remains.

  • Ages 9-11: Close your school books and take a walk through living history. Learn how people found their way before smartphones when the groups navigates with a map and compass. Take a biking field trip around Lady Bird Lake to the Mexican American Cultural Center. Campers must be able to ride a bike with their camp group for three miles without adult assistance.

Austin Scottish Rite Theatre

Details: Austin Scottish Rite Theater’s (ASRT) spring break and summer camps offer a week-long exploration of performance topics. At week’s end, campers present a showcase performance on the historic Austin Scottish Rite Theater stage. Spring Break 2019: Accelerated Acting. ASRT’s Spring Break Accelerated Actors Camp is an intensive, fast-paced week that includes a sampling of all the elements of production: casting, table work, acting techniques, movement, improv and theater games, wardrobe, vocal work, following direction, set and props prep, character development, and more. Memorization and home preparation will be required. Ages 8-11.

ChampionsTX Gymnastics Camp

Details: It's an action packed week of Gymnastics!  Trampoline!  Games and Field Fun!  Yoga!  Art!  Cooking!  Science and Discovery! Party Rock! Ages: Ages 3 (must be potty trained)-10 yrs. 6th-12th graders sign up for the Leader in Training program!

Location: ChampionsTX Lake Travis/West Austin Youth Association, 1314 Exposition Blvd., Austin, TX 78703

Available dates and hours: March 18-22, 2019, M-F 9am-2pm (extend day option available from 2-5:30pm for an additional fee)

Zach Theatre Spring Break Camps, Downtown location

Details:

Austin Tinkering School

Details: Austin Tinkering School is a Makerspace in East Austin that offers classes, camps, workshops, birthday parties, and events for kids AND adults. Come learn, make, play, explore, invent, craft, innovate, and be inspired!

  • Spring Break Tinkering Camp. Ages 5-10. Kids will learn shop safety, tool training, and will build both small and large projects in this action-packed week of building and innovating. March 18-22, 2019, M-F 9am-1pm. Cost: $275

  • Spring Break Afternoon Camp: Craft Lab. Ages 8-12. Craft, tinkering, sewing, art… Craft Lab pulls out all the stops. Tons of fantastic hands-on, skill-building projects for the Maker kid in your life. March 18-22, 2019, M-F 12:30pm-4:30pm. Cost: $275

Creative Action Spring Break Camp

Details: Creative Action offers a fun, engaging, and exciting arts-based Spring Break camp for ages 5-11. Led by Creative Action’s Professional Teaching Artists, this camp offers campers a bit of everything with a daily mix of theatre, singing, dancing, and visual arts!

Details: 

  • kidsActing - Adventures in Acting: Robin Hood. Join an Epic Journey! No singing required! Learn lines and stage directions as you act in this acting camp. Wow your friends and family with a spectacular performance complete with costumes, lights, and props! Great roles for everyone! Ages 6-13.

  • kidsActing - Triple Threat: Descendants 2. Sing, dance, act, play theatre games, enjoy face painting, and have a blast with crafts and the performing arts! All students will have lines, sing, & dance! Perform in a fabulous show for family and friends complete with lights, music, costumes, and props at the end of the week! Ages 5-12.

Rio Vista Farm and Tack Shop Spring Break Horseback Riding Camp 

Details: Do you know some horse crazy kids? What about a spring break horse camp!? Beginners receive a good foundation from which to continue their riding experience, and more advanced riders have the opportunity to improve their skills. Girls and boys ages 7-16. No prior riding experience is necessary. Children are divided into riding groups based on their riding skill level. 

Location: 1000 Fallwell Lane, Del Valle, TX. Van service is available to the first 14 campers enrolled each week ($45 weekly van fee). Van picks up and drops off from Westlake Hills at the Michael’s Shopping Center (located at the corner of Bee Cave Road and Walsh Tarlton).

Available dates and hours: March 19-22, 2019, M-F 9am–4pm (w/ van transportation, pick-up is at 8:40am. Drop-off is at 4:20pm)

Cost: $350 or $395 w/van transportation 

*My older daughter did a week of this camp last summer and loved it. She has already asked to do it again this summer.

Thinkery at the Meredith Learning Lab

Details: Thinkery is thrilled to offer spring break camps with the goal of serving more of Austin’s Pre-K-5th graders in playful, week-long science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) camps. Campers at Thinkery’s home campus have the opportunity to learn through Thinkery exhibits every single day.

Location: Thinkery (Mueller), 830 Simond Ave., Austin, Texas 78723

Available dates and hours: March 18-22, 2019, M-F 9am-4pm (extended day available from 8–9 am and 4–5:30 pm for an additional fee)

Cost: 1st-5th-$330 Member/$365 General Public; extended day is an extra $50 for the week.

Details: Spend your Spring Break creating, making, and having tons of fun! Camp will focus on four days of STEAM activities—science, technology, engineering, art, and math! Each day your child will create awesome art, explore maker ed projects and have fun with new friends. Most camps are divided into small groups by age, but snack and lunch together as a large group. Please dress for mess! Ages 3+ (and potty trained) are welcome. Camp is drop off.

Snapology Austin, STEAM-focused Lego Camps

Details: Snapology Austin provides a fun and safe environment for children ages 4-14 to learn math, science, technology, engineering, art, and literacy concepts using LEGO® bricks and other building tools.  

  • Summer Camp Sampler Ages 4-6: This camp is the best of all worlds! Your child will have the opportunity to try out engineering, robotics, and themed classes all in one fun-filled week. Each day will be something new to try, all incorporating LEGO bricks and minifigures.

  • Summer Camp Sampler Ages 7+: This camp is the best of all worlds! Your child will have the opportunity to try out engineering, robotics, and animation classes all in one fun-filled week. Each day will be something new to try, all incorporating technology and LEGO bricks and minifigures. Ages 7-12.

Various Locations - YMCA of Austin

YMCA Spring Break Camp

Details: Spring Break Camp for games, crafts, swimming, a field trip, and more. All activities are based on the Y's character development values and the Search Institute's 40 Developmental Assets. You can enjoy peace of mind knowing that your camper is enjoying enrichment activities under the watchful eyes of trained YMCA counselors. Your camper will make new friends, gain confidence, and expand their horizons. YMCA Spring Break camp will be available at five locations in March for children ages 5-12. Camp will include a field trip, two days of swimming, and tons of enrichment activities. Lifeguards will be present during swim time. Your camper does not need to know how to swim. Y staff will conduct swim tests for those campers who want to swim in deeper water. Life jackets are provided as well. Registration opens February 11th! 

Area: East Communities YMCA (map), Caraway Elem (RRISD), Pioneer Crossing Elem (MISD), Austin ISD school (south), school in Hays County.

Cost: $185 YMCA of Austin members; $220 nonmembers

Drop-in Care

Kid Spa

Areas: North location - Avery Ranch/Parmer Lane (10526 W Parmer Ln., #501, Austin, TX 78717) and South Location - Circle C/Slaughter Lane (5700 W Slaughter Ln., #380, Austin, TX, 78749)

Available dates and hours: Open every day of the week, except Sundays; Mon.-Thurs. (7:30am-10pm); Fridays (7:30am-12:30am); Saturdays (9am-12:30am) 

Ages: 18 months to 12 years old.

Cost: $9.00/hour (reduced rate special offered when purchasing blocks of hours). Rate is per child, but time may be shared within a family. There is a one-time registration fee of $30 per family. Registration required for first time visit.
