August Fun in Austin!

Hi friends! We are nearing the end of summer, but still have a couple of weeks left to pack in some fun activities. Hope you enjoy Enriched Family’s August Activities List and use it to plan some exciting family adventures before we shift back into school mode. And don’t worry, I’ll have information and resources coming your way soon for the school transition…keep your eyes on the blog!

The highlighted resources this month include a list of local mom’s groups on Austin Baby Guru, as well as a NYT Parenting article on starting your own mom’s group, and a Live Grow Play Austin list of local play groups, mom’s groups, and dad’s groups. Happy playing!

As far as Austin events, August never disappoints for free family activities. The list goes on and on, but I have highlighted the AISD Back to School Bash and Safety Fair (this weekend); Austin Symphony’s free Concerts in the Park (this weekend); The Big Latch-On promoting national breastfeeding month (this weekend); Crux Climbing Center’s Family Fun Day; Figment Creative Labs’ End of Summer Bash; Girlstart’s Back to School STEM Saturday; Planning for Families with Special Needs workshop; UMLAUF Sculpture Family Day; free movies in the park; Bullock Museum H-E-B Free First Sunday (this weekend); and The Thinkery Community Night! Spotlight: LGBTQ Family Pride. Great fee-based activities are plentiful as well - don’t forget about the Austin PRIDE Festival, the wonderful film festivals at The Paramount, or any number of great museum and children’s theatre offerings. Finally, you still have time to check out the Woodland Faerie Trail at Zilker Botanical Gardens (until August 10th)! And so much more! I hope you have fun planning and exploring with Enriched Family’s August Activities List! Please share the list with your friends.

(Please note, the following is provided for informational purposes only; the information is accurate and true to the best of my knowledge, but there may be omissions, errors or mistakes, and no guarantees are made. This list is by no means exhaustive, just a sampling of events that caught my eye that I wanted to highlight. Additional good sources for activity lists are included at the end of the post.)
